My doctorate is in ceramic engineering from Rutgers-The State University. My diploma reads: "The Board of Governors of Rutgers-The State University to all whom these presents may come greetings be it known that Carl Edwin Frahme having satisfied the requirements of the faculty of the graduate school for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy has accordingly been admitted to that degree with all the rights and privilieges and immunities thereunto appertaining." You will note there is no mention of ceramics at all! I have never figured out the immunities, and certainly the IRS hasn't been too impressed. At any rate, I contend that I am a licensed, Certified Philosopher and thus am qualified to have my own Philosopher's Corner. You can judge for yourself!! (My wife thinks I am a certified something else). The topics in this Corner are varied, and as I dream up new ones, they will be addended.
